Fashion Talent Show:  Ignite The Spark

On April 21st, 2017, APSA will be presenting its 21st annual Fashion Talent Show (FTS). Our FTS is a showcase of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) contributions to our society’s diversity. By enhancing cultural awareness and generating positive attention on SDSU’s campus, the event has transformed and is now known as a huge success that continues to broaden the community’s perspective on AAPI talent.

Take the opportunity to perform on the same stage as our headliners and in front of an audience of over 1,000 people! All talents are welcomed and encouraged, from singing, dancing, instrument playing, spoken word poetry, or anything else that defines your talent!

**First place winner at FTS will be awarded $200!**

We will be holding CLOSED auditions on February 17th at Scripps Cottage on SDSU's campus. Please fill out this FORM in order to help us gauge the amount of people who are auditioning and to secure an audition time slot. You will receive a confirmation email along with your time slot. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please email us at [email protected].

If you are unable to attend our auditions, we offer the option of sending us an up-to-date audition tape. We ask that you still fill out the google form and forward your file to [email protected]. Please understand that by sending in an audition tape, our ability to judge your audition as a competing act will be limited. 

The upcoming year’s theme, “Ignite the Spark,” focuses on the strength and action of the AAPI community - that no matter what may be thrown our way, we will still rise above adversity and thrive.

Fashion Talent Show Rules:

**Your audition act does not necessarily have to be your exact live performance at FTS, but please keep in mind that FTS coordinators will follow-up on what you plan to perform at the event to ensure all rules have been met**

  • FTS competing acts open to students only (i.e. any high school or college)
  • Act MUST be appropriate for ALL ages as FTS is a FAMILY event (i.e. language, cultural sensitivity, obscenities, etc)
  • Performers may only audition in one act maximum
  • All auditions are closed; we will not allow anyone not in the act to sit in the room and you may not watch other auditions
  • Auditioning act must be within 5 minutes maximum
  • If using audio, please come prepared with website link/flash drive/file ready
  • Be prepared to provide script/lyrics for your performance for FTS Committee to look over​

​If selected for "Fashion Talent Show: Ignite the Spark" you will be required to be part of a talent commercial for promotions.
